In yet another sign of spring's arrival, a mother bear and her two cubs drew onlookers Monday as they hung out in a tree just south of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research's Foothills Laboratories off Mitchell Lane in Boulder.

While the animals drew some curious passers-by, neither police nor Colorado wildlife officials took steps to remove the bears. Instead, they put up yellow police tape around the area, which is west of Hayden Lake, to keep people out.
