Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule ( Jonathan Castner)

JAM TOWN Tuesday, the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St., hosts another recording of "etown," featuring guests Warren Haynes, above, of jam-rockers Gov't Mule and the maddeningly-hip folk singer Langhorne Slim. $24. Visit bouldertheater.com or call 303-786-7030 for more information.

TAILGATE Ready or not, CU football season kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, right here in Boulder. Expect scary traffic and black-and-gold-clad merrymakers. If you want to get in on it, there are many tailgating parties in advance of the game, including the Saturday Afternoon Club at the Millennium Harvest House, 1345 28th St., whose free party starts at 2 p.m., and Whole Foods, 2905 Pearl St., whose joint party (also free) with neighbors Ace Wine and Spirits starts at noon.

HONKY TONKIN' If you're not going to be watching the game, you can still take advantage of the three-day weekend by partying Sunday night -- and what better way that trekking up to Lyons for some honky tonk and hoppy beer? Oskar Blues, 303 Main St., Lyons, hosts Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams starting at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. Visit oskarblues.com for more information.
