King Soopers plans to build and operate a gas station on at least one of the two former Conoco station sites off Table Mesa Drive in south Boulder, city documents show.

The Colorado-based grocery division of Kroger Co. recently filed an Architecture Design Review application to build a five-pump gas station at 600 S. Broadway.

Phillips 66 previously operated a gas station and car wash at the southeast corner of the intersection in addition to a gas station on the southwest corner of the intersection, at 601 S. Broadway.

A list of projects in review compiled by the city of Boulder does not include an application for the 601 S. Broadway property.

Demolition permits have been issued for both properties, but no application has been submitted for any new structures for 601 S. Broadway, said Mike Banuelos, a city of Boulder spokesman.

Both gas stations were shuttered in recent weeks, and, since then, King Soopers officials repeatedly have declined to comment on any plans for those sites.

Representatives for King Soopers and property owner W.W. Reynolds did not return calls seeking comment.
