Boulder-based Movement Climbing and Fitness is opening a Denver location next year, according to the gym's owners.

Anne-Worley Moelter, who co-owns the gym with her husband Mike Moelter, said Friday that Movement has acquired a 2.5-acre plot of land in Denver for the proposed gym, which is set to open sometime next year.

A website for Movement Denver is set to go live on Saturday, and Moelter said crews are working on preliminary architectural designs for the gym.

The Boulder location, a roughly 22,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Valmont Road and 28th Street, celebrates its fourth year in business on Saturday, Moelter said. The new facility at 1155 W. 5th Avenue in Denver will be about 7,000-square-feet larger, she added.

Moelter said the gym's owners have been discussing a Denver location for the last few years.

"Ever since we opened in Boulder there's been conversation around it," Moelter said. "About a year and a half ago we really started focusing in on Denver."
