Boulder-based Zayo Group LLC signed an agreement to acquire Access Communications, a Minneapolis-based broadband firm, for $40 million, company officials announced today.
Access has a 1,200-mile fiber network that covers the greater Twin Cities area. The firm specializes in providing dark fiber services to customers within the carrier, enterprise, government and education sectors.
Zayo plans to fund the buyout — subject to customary approvals — with cash on hand, officials said, adding they expect to close the deal “quickly.”
Zayo, formed in 2006, has expanded its bandwidth and colocation networks via more than 20 acquisitions of providers across the United States.
