Louisville-based health and wellness company Gaiam Inc. has closed its sole retail location, the 3-year-old Gaiam Living on Boulder's Pearl Street, according to a sign on the store's front door.

The 2,700-square-foot shop, located at 1215 Pearl St., in downtown Boulder, opened in 2011. A sign posted on the door read "CLOSED" and provided the company's corporate phone number for any questions.

The storefront was the company's "flagship retail store," according to Gaiam's website, and was created to showcase the company's "products and services in a way we've never done before."

Gaiam products include clothing, yoga and fitness equipment and DVDs, home decor and more.

A company spokeswoman declined to comment Tuesday.

Gaiam (Nasdaq: GAIA, $6.94) was founded in Boulder in 1988 by Jirka Rysavy to provide products to customers who value the environment, a sustainable economy, healthy lifestyles and alternative health care, according to the company's website.
