Allyson Porter recorded 11 kills as Monarch defeated Boulder in both vollyeball teams' season opener Friday, 25-16, 25-19, 25-16.

Claire Patten added 16 digs for Monarch, while Jill Kennedy had 26 assists and seven digs, and Katie Spence three aces and eight kills.

Monarch hosts Montbello on Tuesday.

POMONA DEF. FAIRVIEW 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12 — Tess Udall had 15 kills and two aces, Dana Stepleton had six kills and Wendy Qi had 27 assists for Fairview on Thursday. The Knights are at Loveland on Wednesday.

GREELEY WEST DEF. BROOMFIELD 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 15-13 — After losing the first two games, Broomfield rallied to win the next two but fell in the fifth game to lose the season opener on Thursday. Ashley Snow had 12 kills and Anna Prins had 11 for the Eagles.

LEGACY DEF. CENTAURUS 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17 — It was a disappointing season opener for Centaurus, but Evan Sanders had a great game for the losing squad. She had one ace, 20 kills, five blocks, two assists and 15 digs. Leahi Lolotai also played well with an ace, a kill, and five blocks. Evelyn Masoner had 3 kills and 10 digs for Centaurus (0-1), who next plays at 7 p.m. Thursday at Pomona.

FORT COLLINS DEF. HOLY FAMILY 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-13 — Senior Kristin Herlihy led Holy Family in kills with 11 as Holy Family fell to Fort Collins 3-2. Herlihy also recorded 4 assists. Jen Caldwell, the team's libero, recorded 32 digs in the losing effort.
