Boulder police officers are preparing for a warrant sweep, arresting those involved in underage drinking cases and taking them to jail.
There are 84 offenders who are eligible for arrest during the sweep, according to the department. The defendants are those who have failure-to-appear or failure-to-comply warrants in connection with minor-in-possession-of-alcohol cases.
Police are advising defendants who would like to clear up their outstanding warrants prior to arrest to turn themselves in to the Boulder Police Department, 1805 33rd St. in Boulder, this weekend or contact municipal court first thing Monday morning.
People coming to the Boulder Police Department over the weekend will need exact change to pay any fines and will have to wait until an officer is available to process the paperwork.
During a warrant sweep, officers may search for defendants at their schools or jobs.
A grant from the "Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws," which is funded by the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division, is funding the initiative.
People who are unsure whether there is an active warrant for their arrest can contact municipal court at 303-441-3030 for additional information.
