He's survived by his son, Benjamin Jacob; his daughter, Rachael Alexandra; his stepdaughter, Grace Ella; his wife, Annie; his father, Marv; his aunt, Freda, and a slew of cousins.
Brooke was born in Milwaukee on December 2, 1954. He worked as a research optometrist at the University of Colorado, Boulder for years, as well as in private optometric practice. Five years ago, he left optometry to pursue a lifelong desire to become a teacher, teaching high school science at Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts.
A service will be held on Thursday, April 15, at 6 pm at Congregation Bonai Shalom, 1527 Cherryvale Road, in Boulder, with Rabbi Tirzah Firestone presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brooke Schefrin MESA Science Fund are appreciated(send to 3535 Cloverleaf Drive, Boulder, CO, 80304).
