Lafayette police arrested psychic Nancy Marks, owner of Psychic Reading at 707 S. Public Road, on Tuesday on suspicion of committing fraud and theft.

Police Cmdr. Mark Battersby said the arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation after police received several complaints of fraudulent activities. He said people reported giving large sums of money to Marks for psychic services.

He referred questions about the nature of the fraud to the Boulder County District Attorney's Office.

District Attorney Stan Garnett said he could not discuss details of the case Tuesday evening because the arrest warrant is sealed. However, he said the complaint does not deal with routine predictions about the future.

"The allegations in the case involve financial improprieties that go far beyond expected psychic services," he said.

Lafayette police served a search warrant on Marks' residence at 492 W. Spaulding St. on Tuesday and arrested her on suspicion of two counts of theft over $20,000, a class 3 felony, and one count of criminal impersonation, a class 6 felony. Marks is being held at the Boulder County Jail on $250,000 bond.

Lafayette police are trying to identify other potential victims. Anyone who believes they were victimized by Marks is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Brian Rosipajla at 303-665-5571.
