A 25-year-old Louisville man accused of masturbating while working behind the meat counter at a now-closed Louisville Safeway pleaded not guilty this morning and agreed to go to trial in September.
The Boulder County District Attorney's Office had offered Nicholas Lorenzo a deal that would have given him five years of probation for a guilty plea. Lorenzo also would have been forced to register as a sex offender.
Lorenzo turned down that deal, and Boulder County Court Judge John Stavely set the case for trial on Sept. 7.
Lorenzo was arrested Jan. 31 after a woman told police she was shopping in the 707 South Boulder Road store with her infant when she approached the meat counter and was asked by Lorenzo if she was finding everything, according to an arrest affidavit.
The woman told investigators she noticed some motion behind the glass door, then realized Lorenzo was masturbating, the affidavit said.
The woman reported the incident to management and police. She told authorities about another incident in the same store two years earlier when Lorenzo followed her around but didn't do anything, the affidavit said.
When police confronted Lorenzo, he admitted to having his “penis out of his pants,” the affidavit said.
