State wildlife rangers today tranquilized a 120-pound male bear that was in a neighborhood near 34th and Iris and moved the bear out of the city, according to the Colorado Department of Wildlife.

The bear, which was between 2 and 5 years old, was relocated because it had come too far into the city, said Jennifer Churchill, a spokeswoman for Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

She asked that residents continue efforts to bear proof their properties until after Thanksgiving. So far this season, rangers have put down four bears in Boulder.
