Saturday. The University of Colorado at Boulder isn't the first place one might look for African dance traditions, but with the addition of several new faculty members in recent years, it's become a growing cultural champion for them. One of those is Ghana native Nii Armah Sowah, who created the first Ubuntu Dance Festival, set to take place April 19 at CU-Boulder's Glenn Miller Ballroom. The festival will celebrate contemporary African dance and culture with a participatory slate that includes dance classes, performances, art, music, storytelling and more. Bring the kids — and a collaborative attitude. Starts at 2 p.m. on the CU-Boulder campus, 16th Street and Broadway in Boulder. $7 for 18-and-under, $10 students, $12 general admission. 303-492-8008 or theatredance.colorado.edu.
