The University of Colorado's men's rugby team will attempt to rout Arizona in their last game of the season, this Saturday at Infinity Park in Glendale.

The Buffs are 3-6 on the season going into the game.

"We've got a lot of young players on the team... and we've been up against heavy competition," said Eric Taber, an assistant coach for the Buffs.

However, he said, the team has met many of its goals for the season, he said, "and the guys have grown a lot as rugby players."

One of those young players, Freshman Sean Kilfoyle, of Denver, was named the College Premier Division Western Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday -- the first CU player to receive the honor this season, according to a release.

Kilfoyle had four tries and five conversions for 30 points in the team's 60-17 win against University of Wyoming on Saturday in Laramie.

"Our players had a big win over Wyoming last weekend, so going into the last game of the season, we have a lot of enthusiasm, and our guys are confident," Taber said.

Taber said he thinks Arizona is "beatable" in this weekend's finale in Denver.

"They have a similar record to us, and they've beat some of the same teams we've beat by similar margins," he said.

Taber is hopeful next season will be a good one for the Buffs.

"We've only got a couple of seniors graduating, so we're returning a lot of our team, and we'll hopefully get a lot of players we lost to injury this year."

"I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I'm always confident going into the season."
