CU-Boulder intramural registration deadline approaching

University of Colorado Intramural Sports' registration deadline is approaching with the popular sports league, said Annie Mulvany, intramural coordinator.

"The team slots always fill up quickly," said Mulvany. "Once a league is full you'll get put on a waitlist -- and typically every sport ends up having a waitlist."

Students can pick up registration forms outside of the Intramural Office. Registration begins Tuesday and runs through Jan. 21. Registrations are taken on a first-come-first-serve basis until all leagues are full.

This upcoming Spring Session I leagues include men's, women's and co-ed basketball, broomball, indoor soccer, indoor volleyball, innertube water polo and indoor flag football.

There are varying team fees per sport and a student ID is needed for registration.

Mulvany said each sport has one game a week, with no official practices.

"If students want to be in a competitive environment," said Mulvany, "or even just a recreational environment, there's always a way to play, no matter what skill level."

Although individual registration is not available, students can meet teammates at the Buff Round-Up meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Rec Center Conference Rooms, or students can join the CU Intramural Free Agents page on Facebook.

"Intramurals is a good stress relief and a good way to hang out with your friends or meet new people," said Mulvany. "Any CU student or member of the Rec Center can join an Intramural team. They don't have to try out. There are different ability levels and the student can choose the level in which they want to play."

Spring Session II registration is March 1 to 4 and offers all outdoor and indoor sports -- including basketball, dodgeball, flag football, ice hockey, innertube water polo, outdoor soccer, volleyball and ultimate Frisbee.
