U.S. 36 will be closed in both directions for four nights this week beginning tonight as the Colorado Department of Transportation demolishes the old 80th Avenue bridge over the Boulder Turnpike.
Tonight, Wednesday and Friday night, one lane of eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 will be closed between Federal and Sheridan boulevards at 8 p.m., with all lanes closing at 10 p.m. The highway will reopen at 5:30 a.m. the following mornings.
On Thursday night, the closure will begin at midnight to accomodate fans traveling to the Carrie Underwood concert at Broomfield's 1stBank Center.
During the closures, westbound motorists can exit Federal and take 72nd or 92nd avenues to Sheridan. Eastbound drivers can exit at Sheridan and take 72nd or 92nd to Federal.
On Wednesday night, U.S. 36 also will be closed between Wadsworth Parkway (State Highway 121) and Church Ranch Boulevard to allow repairs on the new 120th Avenue bridge. That night, a single lane of eastbound and westbound 36 will close at 8 p.m., with all lanes closing at 10 p.m. and reopening at 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
During that closure, eastbound drivers can take Wadsworth to Church Ranch, and vice versa.
