Boulder officials are holding a public meeting Tuesday evening to discuss a proposal to relocate up to 900 prairie dogs from city-owned land around Foothills Community Park and other city open space areas.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Foothills Elementary School cafeteria, 1001 Hawthorn Ave.
The city intends to apply for a permit to relocate the prairie dogs from the areas, which are designated as removal areas in the Urban Widlife Management Plan.
The proposal is to move the prairie dogs to an area of open space land east of Colo. 93 and south of Coal Creek, and north of Colo. 128 and south of Boulder.
The proposed relocation site was formerly the site of a 155-acre prairie dog colony that died off.
