As the Broncos prepare for the Super Bowl, cyclists in Longmont and Boulder will be showing their support by sporting orange during off-season cruiser rides.
Ryan Kragerud, president of Bicycle Longmont, said Longmont's weekly Bike Night ended in mid-September but cyclists will reunite Jan. 29 for an Orange Cruiser Ride in support of the Broncos' Super Bowl bid.
The idea was inspired by "United in Orange, Time to Ride Friday," a Bronco support day held Jan. 10, two days before the Broncos played the San Diego Chargers in the divisional round.
Area cyclists will ride for about 45 minutes around Old Town Longmont in orange and blue, Kragerud said. Organizers also are hoping the ride will encourage Bronco fans who haven't attended a Bike Night to participate, he said.
"We're hoping that we reach out to a whole new group of people," Kragerud said. "There's a solid core of Bike Night folks that will show up, but we're also reaching out to folks who have a bike hanging in the garage but haven't ridden it in a while."
Helmets and lights are recommended.
Boulder's Orange Bike Night is being organized by the leaders of Happy Thursday Cruiser Ride at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30. A location is still being determined. Visit the group's Facebook page for more info at http://tinyurl.com/qx47mkt.
