The Boulder City Council's study session on Tuesday will include a discussion of banning smoking in all public parks and other public areas.

The city already has banned smoking on the Pearl Street Mall, and City Manager Jane Brautigam has announced her intention to ban smoking on the entire municipal campus, stretching from Ninth to 13th streets and from Arapahoe Avenue to Canyon Boulevard, including the library lawn and the Farmers' Market.

Some City Council members want to ban smoking in all city parks and other public areas. No decisions will be made at the study session, but based on the consensus of the council, city officials could begin a public process to get community feedback about the idea.

There is no public comment at study sessions, though they are open to the public.

The discussion is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Creekside Room at the West Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe Ave.
