The University of Colorado Police Department today notified students that a woman called police to report that her friend was sexually assaulted by a man between 11 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2 a.m. Aug. 2 as she was walking through campus to her home in south Boulder.

The woman reporting the crime provided no other details, including a description of the suspect, the victim's name or contact information, the specific location or details of the reported assault.

According to CU, campus police are required to report the alleged incident by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, a federal law that requires colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to disclose major crime information to prospective and current students and employees.
