Boulder's fraternities will "go dark" tonight for St. Patrick's Day, according to an email sent by Interfraternity Council President Drake Duenas.
"It is a long-standing policy of the IFC and an agreement among chapter presidents that we all 'go dark' on SaintPatrick's Day," Duenas wrote to fraternity presidents. "Once again this year, as president of the IFC, I am issuing the following mandate that all fraternity chapters will 'go dark' on Monday, 03/17/2014."
Members of the council will walk or drive by fraternity houses, and investigate any parties or appearances of parties.
Duenas wrote that the council intends to demonstrate to the city and Boulder police that the "fraternity community" is not part of the problem on the Irish holiday.
