University of Colorado police announced on Friday that officers have arrested a man in connection with one of two burglaries that prompted a campus safety alert earlier this month.

Police stated in a release that Christian Michael McGhee, 27, was arrested on suspicion of a burglarizing a residence at the Newton Court Apartments, 1475 Folsom St. on Saturday morning. A resident was home at the time of the alleged burglary.

The Folsom Street incident and another burglary at Marine Court Apartments, 1350 20th St., prompted police to issue a campus safety alert. Police are still investigating the burglaries.

Online court records indicate that McGhee has two open cases with CU police. In one, he is charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, felony theft and trespassing. In another, he is charged with burglary, felony theft and trespassing.

McGhee had been previously arrested for the theft of four iPads from the Etai Bakery inside the Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology building, according to CU police.

He has prior convictions for forgery, possession of a controlled substance, criminal impersonation, escape, theft and trespassing, according to online court records.

He is currently free on bond.
