University of Colorado at Boulder police are investigating a report of a sex offense in a female student's dorm room Sunday morning.

This marks the third sex-related crime reported to police since August.

In the recent incident, police received a report of a man entering a female student's room in Smith Hall at about 5 a.m., according to CU police.

The victim awoke to find the man standing over her, touching himself, police said. The victim's roommate screamed, and the man ran out of the dorm room.

It is unclear how the man gained entry into the dorm or the victim's room.

Two other sex crimes have been reported since the summer.

A man told police a female friend had been sexually assaulted on the North Quad of campus on Aug. 1.

In another case, a female student told police she was walking back to her dorm about 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 7 when she became separated from friends and started walking with three men she did not know. Her next memory, she reported to police, was waking up around 2 a.m., partially clothed, and requiring help from others to get back to her dorm.

All cases are under investigation. It is unclear if any of the cases are related, police said.

Anyone with information about the cases is asked to call CU police at 303-492-6666 or 911.
