A Lafayette man declared dead in October after being involved in a head-on car crash in a busy Boulder intersection died of heart disease and a heart attack, Boulder County Coroner Emma Hall announced in a news release.
Carl Hittle, 60, on Oct. 29 was attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Foothills Parkway from Arapahoe Avenue, but entered the southbound lanes instead, according to Boulder police.
Hittle, behind the wheel of a white van, eventually struck another car head-on and came to a stop, police said. He was declared dead at the scene.
According to Hall's findings, Hittle suffered from atherosclerotic coronary artery disease and a myocardial infraction, commonly referred to as a heart attack, leading to his death.
Hall ruled the manner of his death was natural.
