The Bolder Boulder is on Monday.
Do you know where your running pants are?
Mine are resting fuscia-loud and neon-striped proud in my sixth grade locker room.
Then, there's Creek Fest in town this weekend.
Do you know where your rubber ducky is?
Mine's right damn here at my desk spooning a My Little Pony.
If you are looking to escape the running crowds this weekend, Denver's calendar is packed. It may be mainly packed with parking ticket payment reminders, but regardless...
Great Scott, Gatsby
Since Baz Luhrmann's (undoubtedly) colorful version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" came out last week, let's dress like it's 1922.
(Haven't seen the flick yet. I'd rather spend $12 on four shots of whiskey, so I oft dodge the cinema. Plus, Husband's making me do "Iron Man 3" first. Boo. Yes, I said "cinema.")
Instead of flapping around downtown Denver looking like a couple of decade-misplaced hookers, Friday night Sullivan's Steakhouse, 1745 Wazee St., Denver, will house Roaring-'20s themed costumes with its "Gatsby Gala."
Aside from a costume contest, live swing tunes, trivia and raffle prizes, Sullivan's is also hosting a '20s-themed photo contest. Until May 31, just upload your Gatsby photo (dress to the nines and snap it that evening, fools) at facebook.com/SullivansSteak. Then, the public will vote from June 1-7 and the winner gets a private dinner for 10 in their home with the executive chef. Mmm. Meat.
The shindig will have specialty drinks, The Gatsby Collins and The Daisitini, so you can sip all fancy with your flip flappin' funbags. (Your know your rack looks amazing in that flapper dress.)
Info: Friday at 4 p.m.; RSVP to sullivanssteakhouse.com/gatsby or 303-295-2664
There's a party in art's pants and everybody's coming.
Well, artists, poets and musicians.
Denver music and production company, Swinging Noose Productions, is hosting a big art party Friday night with The Slammin' Art Show at Unit E, 1201 Santa Fe Dr., Denver.
This DIY venue usually hosts underground bands and indie art shows in an intimate setting.
So what's so slammin' about this gig? Slam poetry. Poets will get up and battle words out in between bands playing. Then on top of all this will be tons of art from Colorado artists.
Featured bands include: The Dead Lotus Society, Television Generation, Ndaaz, ButtWhistle and Forgotten Within.
Info: Friday at 8 p.m.; on.fb.me/16HhZBh
