The other night, I had someone call me competitive for the first time.

Me? Innocent (ish)-as-a-lamb, laid-back Beer Girl? Competitive? Na. Especially compared to others in my group (mostly the erection-toting ones), I'm seriously mellow. Of course, that hasn't stopped my lady friend from body-checking me during a particularly intense game of Boob Ball.

(Boob Ball: You bounce a Ping-Pong ball off the table and then use your breasts to drop it into one of three Solo cups in front of you. Make it in, and the opponent on the other side then takes a cup, drains it and sets it on the side of the table, upside down. They can't keep tossing the ball until they flip it and it lands base-down. First one to get a ball in all six cups wins. Tackling is encouraged, as is "subtle" seduction — aka: plumped-up tatas — and trash talking.)

But the more I thought about it, the more I figure a healthy level of competitive nature is good for you. Especially in bar games where all skill levels are impaired.

Agree? Good. Now go embrace it. Because the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art's Summer Games are starting Thursday night.

Round 1, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Street Ping-Pong and Trivia. Obviously not as cool as Boob Ball (but also not as biased toward those of us with grand sweater kittens), this event will fill 13th Street up with tables all set for you to grab a paddle and go ... play Ping-Pong. Keep any other paddle activity to the boudoir.

The Civic Plaza will have trivia that'll test you on Boulder facts, sports and art. If you bring a T-shirt, you'll get to screen-print your own jersey to wear to the rest of the games.

Oh, and did I mention Avery Brewing and Blackbelly Food Truck will be filling your tum-tums throughout? It's always better with a beer. Check out the full details at bmoca.org, and register now for that tournament!

Speaking of a cold brewskie ... Avery Brewing (5757 Arapahoe Ave.) brewers are ready to tap into their Five Monks batch. Sitting at a hefty 19.4 percent ABV, it'll be worth the trip over. The release starts at 11 a.m. Sunday, so hop to it.

Also keep in mind that it's Avery's 21st birthday next Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets (nab 'em at averybrewing.com) run at $40 and include beer, live music, a commemorative glass and one quality Sunday.

Need plans for your Saturday night? Like watching Sigourney Weaver blast apart creepy aliens? Good! Then the Boulder Outdoor Cinema has you covered, with a showing of "Aliens" starting at dusk, following the Jeff Brinkman Band at 7:30 p.m.-ish. Just head over behind the BMoCA (1750 13th St.) and you'll find all the fun.

Also Thursday night: Head up with the crew at Fjallraven (777 Pearl St.) for an afternoon hike. That starts at 5:30 p.m. with snacks.

Feeling classy? Well then you should trot that fine ass over to License No. 1 (2115 13th St.) for the Banshee Tree, performing at 7 p.m. Thursday with no cover. Or perhaps you're more in the mood for The Indulgers, a Celtic rock band that'll be playing at Conor O'Neill's (1922 13th St.) Friday at 10 p.m.

And because I care about you sexy thangs all week, here's a preview for your upcoming Hump Day. (Not literally. Let's keep some secrets in this relationship.) Boulder Beer (2880 Wilderness Pl.) is hosting the Happy Tails event, from 4 to 6 p.m. If you buy a $10 fundraiser glass, you'll get a beer and the knowledge that 10 percent of the bar sales are going to the adorbs fuzz-balls over at the Boulder Valley Humane Society. Awww.
