Well, the last-minute rumors were true: we got iTunes 9, iPhone and iPod Touch OS 3.1, a 160-gig Classic, price drops on the Touches with a 64-gig model added at the high end for $399, cheaper shuffles and a camera on the nano.
But there was no major revamp on the iPod Touch. Everyone and their mother had been expecting a camera to be added to the Touch, but apparently either Apple never intended to add a camera or ran into technical problems with doing so.
Either way, it now looks like we won't be getting camera-equipped Touches anytime soon. The price-dropped models and the new 64-gig Touch are available now, which means these are the final versions.
Oh and, needless to say, there was not a single mention of The Beatles. Yoko Ono, once again, ruined everything.
But Wednesday's whole presentation just felt incomplete, like Apple had planned for something more and wasn't able to deliver. Minor price drops and incremental feature updates and ring tones for the rip-off price of $1.29 just don't seem like press conference-worthy announcements.
But hey, Steve Jobs is back.
