A Boulder man accused of attacking a 23-year-old man outside the Walrus Saloon — leaving the victim with serious head and brain injuries — surrendered to police Wednesday.
Eric Anthony Bustillos, 21, was booked into Boulder County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault.
He was identified as a suspect after police released a composite sketch and e-mailed it throughout the University of Colorado campus, police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said.
The victim, former CU student Charles Gonsher, was confronted by three men around 12:45 a.m. March 6 as he and a friend tried to catch a cab outside the Walrus, 1911 11th St. Police said Bustillos punched Gonsher in the face, then ran after he fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
Gonsher remained unconscious for several minutes, and suffered brain hemorrhaging and broken facial bones, police said. He is expected to need additional surgery.
