The Boulder County Sheriff's Office is crediting a teenage Boy Scout for his quick action in rendering aid to a man he found bleeding in a recreation area near Camp Dick on Thursday.

Crews responded at about 2 p.m. to reports of a man with a self-inflicted wrist laceration who had been found near the 700 block of Forest Service Road 105 in western Boulder County, south of Allenspark.

The 46-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, was found by the 17-year-old Boy Scout, who was riding an ATV nearby.

According to a Sheriff's Office news release, the Oklahoma Boy Scout Troop member quickly administered first aid to the man and stayed with him until medical crews arrived.

The man was airlifted to St. Anthony Central Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition was not available.
