Mountain View Fire Rescue firefighters rescued a border collie named Flash from a collapsed culvert in Mead on Friday morning.
Flash's owner searched for him for three hours on Thursday night after he went missing, but could not find him. Friday morning the man went out to pick up his newspaper and decided to check the culvert on a hunch and found Flash lodged inside.
Mountain View Fire Rescue spokeswoman Amy Tallent reported on Friday morning that Flash was 8 feet inside the culvert along Weld County Road 11 south of Colo. Highway 66. The dog could not be pulled out because the culvert had partially collapsed, so firefighters used a circular saw to cut a hole into the culvert large enough to pull him out.
Flash survived the night and the rescue and has been taken to a veterinarian for care.
