Mountain View Fire Rescue firefighters spent Wednesday morning on the ice as part of an annual ice-rescue training drill.
Two firefighters served as "victims" in the water at the Southwest Weld Service Center, 4209 Weld County Road 241/2. Dispatchers called crews to the scene to "rescue" the pair on Wednesday morning.
The rescue process includes an evaluation of the scene conditions and the victims' conditions; an assessment of personnel and equipment; and the development of an operational plan, according to a press release on the training.
"This training has been performed multiple times in our district and it's vital that we do this every year to ensure that crews are properly trained on how to perform this time of rescue," spokesman Amy Tallent wrote in the release.
