Bácaro Venetian Taverna, an Italian restaurant that has operated in downtown Boulder since 1998, plans to cease operations on March 5, officials announced this week.

The scheduled closure of the restaurant at 921 Pearl St. comes after a recent ownership change.

Former owner Corrado Fasano sold Bácaro with the intention of focusing on other business ventures, including the nearby PastaVino, a restaurant which he partly owns, officials said.

Chris Holston, Bácaro's new owner, plans to renovate the space and open a restaurant in the spring.
