The U.S. Forest Service will conduct pile burns in the James Creek area just west of Jamestown this week, weather permitting.

Wind, fuel moisture and snow cover will be evaluated each day this week to determine if burns will take place. Smoke from the pile burns could be visible from Gold Hill, Jamestown and Peak to Peak Highway.

Boulder and Clear Creek Ranger District firefighters have already completed 212 acres of burns in the West Magnolia, Yankee Hill, James Creek and Sugarloaf fuel treatment areas.
