Boulder County will open a Bus-Then-Bike shelter at the Table Mesa Park-n-Ride on Friday for commuters who use bikes for the first or final part of their commutes.

The shelter has the capacity for 31 bicycles in addition to the 36 bicycle lockers and 34 bicycle parking spaces already at the Park-n-Ride. It provides long-term, secure and weather-protected storage for bicycles and is free for riders.

Boulder County officials will be at the shelter 4 to 6 p.m. Monday and 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesday to answer questions. Food and drinks will also be provided.

The shelter is designed to reduce time spent on loading and unloading bicycles onto buses while still encouraging riders to use a bicycle for the first or final parts of their commutes.

Boulder County has two other shelters in Longmont at Eighth and Coffman Street and 28th Street and Iris Avenue in Boulder.
