Boulder is hosting a presentation on street design Wednesday as part of a broader effort to create more safe, walkable streets that attract people throughout the day.
Victor Dover, co-author of the book "Street Design: The Secret to Great Cities and Towns," will present proven street design strategies that "expand travel options, strengthen neighborhoods and improve quality of life," city officials said in a news release.
Dover, a planner, has been involved in 150 neighborhood plans, urban revitalization programs and regional plans, including the 1994 North Broadway Plan in Boulder.
The free presentation and discussion are hosted by Boulder's Transportation Division and its Community Planning and Sustainability Department.
The street design strategies discussed at the presentation will be part of the city's coordinated planning efforts, including the Access Management and Parking Strategy, Envision East Arapahoe Plan, North Boulder Subcommunity Plan update, Sustainable Streets and Centers project and the Transportation Master Plan update.
The presentation is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chautauqua Grand Assembly Hall, 900 Baseline Road.
