Today-Saturday. Ukuleles have exploded in popularity in the past few years, as anyone watching a cutesy car insurance commercial knows. But look past the ad music and bearded hipsters in suspenders and you'll see a versatile instrument with a long history. Swallow Hill's Denver UkeFest has been intelligently feeding and capitalizing on that interest for the past seven years. Its festival features workshops for players of all levels, jam sessions and concerts celebrating the uke, including performances by the Leftover Cuties, Stuart Fuchs a.k.a. "Stukulele," Aldrine Guerrero, Star Belle and the Ooks of Hazzard. The event, which began June 5, continues through June 7 at Swallow Hill's 71 E. Yale Ave. location. $30-$115. 303-777-1003 or denverukefest.org.
