The westbound lane of Boulder Canyon Drive will be closed and several other roads in Boulder will see heavy bicycle traffic Sunday as the Denver Post's Ride the Rockies kicks off at Fairview High School.
Boulder Canyon Drive will be closed to westbound traffic from 6 a.m. to about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
From 5:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, there will also be heavy bicycle traffic leaving Fairview High, 1515 Greenbriar Blvd., and traveling along Greenbriar Boulevard, Boradway, Baseline Road, Ninth Street, University Avenue, Sixth Street, Arapahoe Avenue and Canyon Boulevard.
Drivers are asked to avoid these areas during this time if possible and use caution when driving through those areas.
The public start of the race and kickoff ceremonies begin at 7 a.m. at Fairview High for Ride the Rockies, as more than 2,000 people ride from Boulder to Winter Park.
