The evactuation of the Boulder Transit Center has been lifted after the Boulder County bomb squad investigated a "suspicious" bag found near there and determined it was an empty makeup case.

At around 8 a.m. this morning Boulder police received a call from a witness in the area who said they saw someone leave a small bag or case behind a bench near the transit center, according to bomb technician Ed Quayle with the bomb squad.

The bomb squad investigated, x-rayed the case and determined it was empty.

"It was suspicious enough that we needed to investigate," Quayle said.

The transit center was evacuated as a precaution, and Walnut Street was closed off at 14th Street while the bomb squad investigated. But by 10:40 a.m. the evacuation had been lifted and the buses were once again routed to the transit station, according to RTD officials.
