Boulder police are seeking witnesses after a woman told police a man hit her in the head while she was near the Children's Fishing Pond on the Boulder Creek Path on Sunday.

The reported assault happened at 9:44 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Canyon Boulevard near the fishing pond. A 19-year-old woman told police she had stopped to sit alone on a bench and listen to music on her earphones when she was hit in the side of the head.

The woman did not see or hear anyone come near her before the attack, and could only describe the suspect as a tall male wearing dark clothing. Police believe the suspect hit the victim with his arm or fist and did not use a weapon.

The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries and later released.

Detectives are asking anyone who might have been near the area at the time of the incident to call Boulder police Detective Kurt Foster at 303-441-4329.
