Members of Rocky Mountain Rescue and Grand County Search and Rescue helped a 14-year-old backpacker suffering severe abdominal pain hike out of the backcountry early today following an overnight rescue operation.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the teen began suffering severe pain while backpacking in the area of Kings Lake off of Rollins Pass Road. His grandfather, Jeff Coors, hiked out of the backcountry to Nederland, and called the sheriff's office for help at just before 3 a.m. today

The two search and rescue teams hiked in and found the 14-year-old, administered medical care and hiked him out of the backcountry by morning. He was transported by Grand County Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, the sheriff's office said.
