Was that fun or what?
What we experienced last Tuesday night in Boulder at the Coors Events Center is exactly what great college basketball is about. Winning is obviously fun, but the camaraderie and competitive spirit that was displayed throughout the game, between the players, fans and our students is what makes it special.
The heartbeat of our program is our student body. I can't say enough how much we appreciate them.
Seeing the students united in supporting our team and doing it with class, encouraging our players and then engaging with the student-athletes after the game -- it was truly awesome.
The result is something to take pride in. We are excited about the bright future for our basketball program and seeing this kind of turnout and support only builds a contagious excitement for all.
A major media outlet said it best: "The CU student body should stand up and give itself an ovation. Although the crowd count in the arena was a modest 6,957, the high percentage of rowdies in attendance distracted Baylor free-throw shooters and demanded defensive hustle from the Buffs in a manner seldom seen around here since Chauncey Billups wore a uniform for the Buffaloes."
A heartfelt thank you to our fans and students for their great support. You do make a big difference and your efforts do not go unnoticed. We look forward to seeing you at Coors Events Center.
GO BUFFS!
