DENVER — Something mysterious in the sky is drawing thousands of people outside in downtown Denver.
If that sounds like the beginning of a sci-fi movie, it is — and a Colorado-based production company is looking for extras to help make it happen.
Dream Maker Films is seeking 5,000 movie extras to fill the streets in downtown Denver and Boulder for filming later this year.
The movie, "The Energy," is in the early stages of pre-production and could begin filming this summer, said Terry Spar, project manager of the film, in a news release.
The scenes in need of extras will be in the first 10 minutes of the movie and "set the stage for a really-fast paced movie with a lot of action," said Jack Grey, of Dream Maker Films.
"In Denver, we'll have a lot of people coming out of buildings, suits, lawyers, business people. In Boulder, we'll have a lot of families — kids, parents, grandparents," Grey said. "They'll walk outside and look up into the sky and start pulling out their cell phones and taking pictures and videos of what they're seeing."
The details on the rest of the movie, Dream Maker's first feature-length effort, are staying under wraps for now, he said.
"It's about energy in the sense of positive and negative energy in people," Grey said. "People are drawn to one side of the energy and certain people take that to an extreme. People who take it to an extreme develop some powers."
