Former CU offensive lineman signs with Denver Broncos

Former University of Colorado offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus missed out on hearing his name called during the annual NFL Draft this weekend. However, Sunday night Polumbus received the phone call that he had long been waiting to hear.
Mike Shanahan and the Denver Broncos were on the other end of the line and they signed Polumbus to a free agent contract Sunday night.
On Monday, the Broncos had to part ways with another former CU player, Mark Fenton, in order to make room for Polumbus and six other rookie free agent signees.
At 6-foot-8, and 300-pounds, Polumbus, a Cherry Creek High school grad, became the third former Buffalo from the class of 2008 to make it to the NFL. Former Buffs Jordon Dizon (Detroit Lions) and Terrence Wheatley (New England Patriots) were each selected in the second round of the draft.
Two other former Buffs who have yet to sign with an NFL team are running back Hugh Charles and tight end Tyson DeVree.
Fairview High School grad Taylor Tharp, who started last season at Boise State, was signed by the Carolina Panthers and former Colorado State quarterback Caleb Hanie signed with the Chicago Bears.
