Who knew that you had to be a delegate to attend a chunk of this week's Democratic National Convention-related music and social fests?

Odds are, a lot more people would've become involved with the political process if they knew it was going to earn them an all-access pass to this week's parties.
First off, there's been a lot of confusion about who gets tickets to the shows. Tix to Wednesday's Rage Against the Machine concert were free and distributed lottery style -- which means that people are probably going to show up at the Denver Coliseum anyway.
The 9,000 tickets probably won't even cover the bands' guest lists.
To add to the musical ticket confusion, Public Enemy's show at the Boulder Theater on Monday is postponed. The group was set to also play a DNC-related event on Tuesday. However, a Boulder Theater spokesperson said the group can't make it into the state until Wednesday.
Stay tuned for more info.
That's not all. Locals won't be able to see all the celeb musical parties that are coming to Denver this week, including private gigs by Kanye West and John Legend.
Here's one you won't mind missing: The Bacon Brothers, aka Kevin Bacon and his bro, are playing a private DNC show at the Fillmore Auditorium on Saturday. Unless you're some crazed "Footloose" fan, you won't be missing this one.
And locals can kiss off attending the "Grammys Rock the Convention" concert that's going to be held Tuesday at The Church in Denver -- unless you have a special invite. The music party features "American Idol" runner-up Chris Daughtry, Everclear and local band The Flobots.
No worries, there are still plenty of DNC-related music events that are open to the public.
The DJ-friendly Church will be hosting some shows you can attend during DNC week. Wednesday, the venue hosts a "special public" SoCo DNC party with Moby. The show's a fundraiser for the Democratic Party. On Aug. 31, Dave Navarro plays a special show at The Church with DJ Skribble.
Former Boulderite Jello Biafra is in town to raise a little hell during DNC week, and Saturday he'll be MC'ing a Bluebird Theater show featuring Slim Cessna's Auto Club and Ghost Buffalo.
Tuesday, Boulder's "etown" is presenting a DNC show at the Denver Performing Arts Complex featuring both old school and new school artists. On board for this show are Ani DiFranco, James Taylor, David Crosby and Graham Nash. If you don't mind flying solo, the "etown" office says there are still single tickets for the show.
The hip-hop party Rock the Bells is also part of this week's DNC music events -- and it's open to the public. Saturday's all-day show takes place at Fiddler's Green in Denver and features A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Method Man and more.
The Rock the Vote Ballot Bash is open to the public and the show will feature A-list acts such as Wyclef Jean. The party takes place Monday at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
And if country music and benefit concerts suit you, then head down to Red Rocks on Tuesday to catch Willie Nelson and Jakob Dylan. The show is part of the DNC events and it will benefit the people of Darfur. The concert also will feature local singer Nina Storey.
As long as you don't end up at "Gitmo on the Platte" (the official "holding center" for DNC troublemakers), this should be one very interesting week for music fans in Boulder and Denver.
