Cross Country Ski School -- This clinic is free to everyone. You must be a Colorado Mountain Club member for on-snow clinics. Tentative on-snow clinics are Saturday and Dec 14 (subject to snow conditions). These dates will be confirmed at tonight's clinic. Neptune Mountaineering, 633 S. Free Ski Tuning Clinic -- Learn the basics of alpine, telemark, and snowboard tuning, from edge repair/sharpening/beveling, base repair, base structures and hand iron hot waxing and brushing of bases. Bring your skis and any tools you own. Attendees receive 20 precent off all tools and wax purchased at clinic. Alpine Base & Edge, 1719 15th St., Boulder, free; 6 p.m. Details: 303-443-0814.
WEDNESDAY
Belay Basics -- This one-time class is held every Wednesday and teaches the basics of safe belaying. Participants receive a free one-week membership during the course plus free gear rentals. Boulder Rock Club, 2829 Mapleton Ave., $32-$40; 6 p.m. Details: 800-836-4008.
Ski Touring Basics -- Free your heel and your mind will follow. Forget the flashy clothing, bars, lift lines and tickets that are synonymous for the alpine skier. Join REI as we outfit you for a cross-country ski odyssey. We will discuss the fundamental differences between backcountry, telemark and touring ski styles. SATURDAY
Boulder Cycling Club Saturday Ride -- Group road bike ride for all levels. Ride is sponsered by Bicycle Village. If weather is bad, meet at 10:30 a.m. for a free spin class at the YMCA next door.
