A Longmont man accused of impersonating police while trying to get free porn waived his preliminary hearing on Thursday and is now set to be arraigned on Nov. 7.
Andrew Libby, 33, was arrested in August on suspicion of trying to get free X-rated videos from a Longmont adult novelty store by claiming he was part of a police “age verification unit” and needed to check the films for underage actors.
Libby was arrested by SWAT officers at his home in the 1000 block of Pratt Street on charges including two counts of impersonating a police officer, possession of an illegal weapon and child abuse.
During a search of the home, police found illegal knives, a semi-automatic handgun, several large swords and a metal security badge.
Libby is a convicted felon, according to police.
Police said Libby made two attempts to obtain free videos at Mile High Emporium, 1407 Main St. in Longmont, within nine days and was turned down each time. A store manager called 911 and submitted video surveillance of the suspect to investigators.
