The wife of Texas football head coach Mack Brown was among three hikers and climbers involved in unrelated accidents in Boulder County during the day Saturday.
A spokesman for the Texas team confirmed Sally Brown, 54, was treated after taking a fall along a trail.
Sheriff’s officials said she was taken to Boulder Community Hospital with a possible broken wrist and cuts to her face.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Linden, Sally Brown was hiking with a friend about 10:30 a.m. on the North Mesa Trail located southwest of Boulder when she fell on a rocky path.
“They were just out hiking,” Linden said. “(Sally Brown) tripped and landed on her face.”
Texas spokesman John Bianco said the woman was still trying to attend the 5 p.m. game, though it was unclear whether she made it there.
A hospital spokesperson would not confirm if Brown was treated and released.
Mack and Sally Brown have four children together. Sally Brown retired in 1999 as president of Marin Development in North Carolina, according to the Texas football Web site.
Also Saturday, one man fell between the first and second Flatirons about 10 a.m.
The man, Eric Sigurdson, 21, was climbing alone at the time and was not using safety equipment, officials said. He was able to call for help using his cell phone, and crews were able to reach him via the Bluebell Trail.
Officials did not know how far the man fell or what route he was climbing.
Sheriff’s officials said he broke his left leg and was taken to Boulder Community Hospital.
Also, at about 12:30 p.m., crews received a report of a 51-year-old man who fell 30 feet from a cliff in Eldorado Canyon State Park, breaking both ankles upon impact.
Emergency workers took several hours to reach the man, whose name was not available Saturday night, in the area of the Red Garden Wall. He was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Responders from the Boulder Fire Department, Rocky Mountain Fire, Rocky Mountain Rescue, Alpine Rescue and paramedics assisted with the calls.
