So many concerts, so little time.
This fall's concert season is getting off to a bang and it all starts this month.
Here are some of the must-see shows coming to town in September:
Denver and beyond
September kicks into gear with two make-up shows by the Foo Fighters.
The hard-edged rockers hit Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Monday and Tuesday. Opening for the Foos are metal-rockers Year Long Disaster. Year Long also opens for Motorhead at the Fillmore on Saturday.
You also don't want to miss rapper/actor Ice Cube when he visits Denver's Ogden Theatre on Sunday.
Fans of the music scene in Austin, Texas, will want to check out the rocking Band of Heathens. Catch the group at the Soiled Dove on Sept. 11 and at Oskar Blues in Lyons on Sept. 12.
The Monolith Festival is back this year, taking place at Red Rocks on Sept. 13 and 14 with headliners DeVotchKa, Silversun Pickups, Vampire Weekend and Atmosphere.
If you like ethereal indie-pop music, then check out shows by Cloud Cult at the Bluebird Theater on Sept. 12 and Ra Ra Riot at the hi-dive on Sept. 16.
Alicia Keys is about to hit it big in the movies -- she's co-starring in the much-anticipated film "The Secret Life of Bees." The soulful singer plays the Wells Fargo Theatre on Sept. 17.
Singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw knows how to work his songs and his crowds. The performer's coming to the Ogden Theatre on Sept. 20.
In folkie land, Xavier Rudd brings his Australian brand of singer-songwriting to the Fillmore on Sept 26. The outspoken Ani DiFranco plays the Paramount Theatre on Sept. 27.
And locals can't get enough of JJ Grey and Mofro. The soul and funk band hits the Ogden on Sept. 27.
Boulder's must-see shows
The girls have it at the Fox Theatre this month -- especially the female singer-songwriters.
The lush-sounding Seattle band Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter visit the Fox on Sept. 15. Jenny Lewis is taking time off from her band Rilo Kiley to show off her countrified tunes at the Fox on Sept. 16. And U.K. pop sensation Adele makes up her missed Fox date on Sept. 30.
Boulder loves its bluegrass and Railroad Earth comes back to visit the Fox on Sept. 19.
He looks like a freak -- with a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head -- but Buckethead is one amazing rock guitarist. Catch the guitar god at the Fox on Sept. 21. Rock popsters Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers play the Fox on Sept. 24.
Hopefully the damage from Hurricane Gustav won't prevent New Orleans band Galactic from hitting the Fox on Sept. 25.
The Boulder Theater's big September show -- Sound Tribe Sector 9's fan club gig on Thursday -- is long sold out.
The b.side Lounge is starting to bring in some big names, too. Steven Vidaic from Citizen Cope and Goodbye Champion fame plays the club Sept. 11, and Argentina dub and trip-hop star Federico Aubele hits the b.side on Sept. 13.
Whew, that's just the start of the fall concert season.
