Gentlemen, leave the lederhosen and the traditional German haferl footwear behind.
Ladies, no need for the traditional dirndl dress.
This weekend's Downtown Boulder Fall Fest will allow for a hell of an Oktoberfest -- minus the Oktoberfest.
"It is a good show for everybody and it's right here in town," says Lib Ilderton, the Fall Festival director. "It's really fun to watch everybody have a good time."
Prepare the stein: The fest's beer garden will be in front of the courthouse and stage (1300 block of Pearl Street), featuring all local brews from Walnut Brewery, Boulder Beer and Coors.
Tess McFadden, Boulder Beer's marketing director, says the local brewery will be serving its popular dry-hopped ale, Hazed & Infused, as well as the hoppy, unfiltered amber Buffalo Gold.
"We definitely try to support as many local events as we can and have a local presence as Colorado's first microbrewery," McFadden says.
The fest will feature food booths from Oskar Blues, Falafel King and Spud Bothers, and the Tandoori Grill will be serving corn on the cob, brats, gyros, fish sandwiches, hamburgers and more.
The festival also will feature live music people in town are very excited about, says Terri Takata-Smith, the event's communications director.
"The bands we have lined up are Boulder's most popular bands," Takata-Smith says.
Friday's lineup features Funkiphino and Hazel Miller; Saturday is Dick Savodny, Boulder Acoustic Society, Soul Sacrifice and Wendy Woo; and Sunday is Felonius Smith, The Fever and Deja Blu.
There also will be an art fair featuring 40 artisans from around the country showcasing their work at the festival, and Ilderton says there will be many local artists as well.
Prepare for the change of season, Boulder-style.
"Drink a beer, walk around, enjoy the festival and hear the music," McFadden says.
