Boulder police arrested a man after he robbed a Kum and Go on Canyon Boulevard late Saturday night and then hid by a nearby apartment complex, according to a police report.

According to the report, at 10:24 Saturday, an employee at the Kum and Go gas station at 2375 Canyon Blvd. was taking a smoke break when a man walked into the store. She followed him in and noticed he appeared to be acting very nervous and strange.

The employee said when she approached the man, he grabbed her and directed her to put all of the cash from the register into a bag. He then directed her to the back of the store and told her not to move while he fled. The woman said the suspect's hands were in his pocket and she did not see if he had a weapon.

Police encountered the suspect -- identified as David Charles Clark Jr., 38 -- hiding near an apartment complex at 1833 Folsom St. and arrested him at gunpoint. The gas station employee identified Clark as the suspect who robbed the store.

Police said Clark stole about $430 in cash from the store. There was also cocaine, heroin and Alprazolam pills in a backpack found where Clark was hiding.

Clark was arrested on suspicion of robbery and third-degree assault. He remains in custody at the Boulder County Jail on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled for a formal filing of charges on Thursday.
